Cappagh Hospital Foundation was delighted to celebrate its 30th Anniversary on Thursday, 12th April in the Lady Martin Auditorium on the grounds of Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital. The evening was in honour of the many supporters of the Foundation over the past 30 years and the extensive work it has carried out in support of the Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital since 1988. This event was the first of many exciting celebrations planned during 2018 to mark the 30thAnniversary
For those who could not make the event on the night, the foundation is travelling around the country to present these awards in person, to show their appreciation for those who are the back bone of the foundation. On June 15th Cappagh Hospital Foundation had the pleasure of visiting Manor Farms processing plant in Shercock, Cavan.
Carton Bros is the name of the company that produce Manor Farm chicken. It is one of the oldest family companies in the country and dates back to 1775 when it was trading in the Dublin Markets. Originally in those heady days over 200 years ago, chickens would be brought from the farmyards all around the country to the Dublin Markets and Carton’s would sell them on. In later years people would send their live chickens on the train marked for Carton’s where they would then be sold and the money would be sent back to the Farmers by return (less a commission of course). The staff of Manor farm has been donating to Cappagh Hospital Foundation for over fifteen years.
After an introduction by the General Manager Declan Kennedy, and Manor Farm’s HR, CEO Orla Gilroy addressed the packed lunch room and thanked the staff of Manor Farm for their outstanding support. The award was presented to some of the longest donors, and goodie bags were given out to the staff. ‘The warm welcome was extended to more visits and we are looking forward to returning to Shercock later this year.
‘The incredible commitment to Cappagh Hospital Foundation is a true testament to the staff and working environment here at Manor Farm. ‘ – Orla Gilroy
