Cappagh Hospital Foundation was delighted to celebrate its 30th Anniversary on Thursday, 12th April in the Lady Martin Auditorium on the grounds of Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital. The evening was in honour of the many supporters of the Foundation over the past 30 years and the extensive work it has carried out in support of the Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital since 1988. This event was the first of many exciting celebrations planned during 2018 to mark the 30thAnniversary

For those who could not make the event on the night, the foundation begun a road show around the country to present these awards in person, to show their appreciation for the those who are the back bone of the foundation.

This week CHF’s CEO Orla Gilroy and Communications and Fundraising executive Katie set off on the road to thank some of our incredible supporters KOSTAL Automotive Electrical Systems in Abbeyfeale in Limerick.

The 400 staff of Kostal automotive electrical systems has been donating to Cappagh Hospital Foundation for over 20 years. CHF had the honour of meeting some of the Kostal team (who describe themselves as family) and presenting them with an award in appreciation of their contribution to Cappagh Hospital through the foundation.

Since 1988 over €11m of the generous donations raised by supporters has made a significant difference to the staff and patients at Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital. These donations have enabled Cappagh Hospital Foundation to support and implement many innovative and critical developments in Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital.

Some notable developments that Kostal’s staff have contributed over the years include:
• The establishment of a Bone Tumour Registry (1989)
• A new Out Patients Department (1996)
• The building of a 10 bed Isolation Unit (2009)
• Support Nurses in their advanced education
• Stryker Spinal Surgery Navigation Equipment and Software (2017)
CEO of Cappagh Hospital Orla Gilroy said:

Ms Gilroy concluded by saying: “The funds raised from over the years have had a hugely positive impact on Cappagh Hospital’s patients and contributed to a wide range of different projects. I would like to once again extend my thanks to our donors for their ongoing support.”
